CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE®

Check with your choice schools or visit the College Board (they administer the PROFILE) to see if a PROFILE is required and to confirm submission deadlines because dates vary by school. Unlike the January 1 submission start date for the FAFSA, you may submit your PROFILE as early as the fall.

To register, contact the College Board by phone 800-778-6888 or online. An advantage to the online process is you can complete the registration and application process at the same time—no waiting. The online application automatically includes all questions required by your designated schools.

Unlike the FAFSA, completing the PROFILE is not free. There is a nonrefundable $5 registration fee and an $18 charge for each school where you want information sent. First-time college applicants from families with very low incomes may be eligible for a fee waiver.

Complete your PROFILE Online.

Special Circumstances
Such as unemployment, change in family status, serious injury, or natural disaster are not reflected in the previous year's income might affect your ability to pay college expenses.

There's a section on the PROFILE to list these items.

Your school's financial aid officer may use this additional information to adjust your award.
